Here is a sweet theme that I had the enjoyment of customizing for a Toddler’s birthday party. I advise to look to the theme for inspiration and ideas. I started with the invitation design and based the layout of these invitations on the ever so popular image of Pooh Bear floating up, up, and away by balloon. The invitations were double sided, with all the basic party information (Who, When, Where, and RSVP) contained inside a bumble bee which was stringed between Pooh and the balloon.
These are the Loot Bags that were created using an almost perfect Pooh yellow colored paper bag. I used a matching yellow paper to make the ears, which were then glued on. Black paper was used to make the face pieces (eyes, eyebrows, nose, snout curve, mouth and chin curve). The cheeks were formed by making a curved cut along the side of the bag, and popping the piece forward to make it look as though it is one piece. To add a little dimension, I made the tongue from pink foam and the red shirt had paper flaps to make the shirt collar. I picked up some wooden bumble bees at my local arts & crafts store and hot glued those onto Pooh Bears nose. It really adds so much when you add in details that are consistent to your theme and to each party piece you are creating.
This is the piñata that I created from paper-mâché. The ears cheeks and snout all contained confetti which were stuffed during the creation process, the main cavity (head) was where the goodies were contained.
This birthday party theme is really popular among young children, but just because it is popular doesn’t mean your party has to be right off the shelf generic. Look for ways to add in your own custom details so your party is a bit different from the rest.
