They say First impressions go along way. Well, in the case of parties and celebrations, the same idea applies. With that theory in mind, think of invitations as a sort of promotional ad for an event. Almost like a marketing advertisement. A good ad won’t read “Please come to our store”. Instead it will read “Come and see all the great things we have at our store!” The idea is to try to turn it around on the invited guests, and make them want to attend your celebration from the moment they receive the invitation. This is a different approach that actually works. You have to impact the invited guests from the very beginning, and that means your invitations have to be set apart from all the rest.
Think about it…How many times have you received a party invite to a child’s birthday party? Out of all those received invites, how many of them were you excited to go to. Not many probably, and that’s most likely because the invitations were generic and plain like all the rest. You’d be surprised how people react when they receive a unique party invitation. Upon first impression It puts a certain exciting spin in the minds of invited guests.
I decide to make my son’s birthday invitations exciting by making them to look like a Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP. I made it to match all the details of a Nintendo GBA, with a screen, all the buttons in place, and even a paper game cartridge that slide in and out which revealed items that the birthday boy liked. This helps to spark ideas in the minds of guests when it comes to gift giving. The screen was printed on clear Transparency paper, to give it that shiny screen effect and the rest of the entire invite was printed on a silver metallic paper, to resemble one of the many colors that the Nintendo GBA came in. Silver just happened to be the color my son had, so he was delighted to see his birthday invitations the same color of his Nintendo GBA.
